DEGEN holders by position size, 1 Sep to 29 Oct: shrimps 3,487 → 3,680 (+6%), lobsters 186 → 173 (−7%), dolphins 37 → 37 (0%), whales 15 → 14 (−7%). Tubes read on one decade scale; the collar on each tube marks where its band stood on the first day.

Each tube holds one position size, shrimp to whale, stacked on one decade scale; the collar marks where the band stood on the window's first day, and coins drop in or lift out as the days turn. Hover a tube for its card, click to look closer.

What it is

Cohorts split the holder base by position size. Every wallet with at least $5 of the token falls in exactly one band: shrimp ($5 to $1k), lobster ($1k to $10k), dolphin ($10k to $100k) or whale ($100k and up).

Seeing the bands side by side shows who is joining or leaving.

A holder count that is flat overall can hide whales leaving while shrimp arrive, or the reverse.

The bands come from the same daily panel as active holders, so they follow the same counting rules: infrastructure wallets are left out.

What goes into it

  1. 1

The panel stores cumulative counts: wallets at $5+, $1k+, $10k+ and $100k+. Each band is the difference between two floors.

    shrimp = $5+ − $1k+ · lobster = $1k+ − $10k+ · dolphin = $10k+ − $100k+ · whale = $100k+
  2. 2

A day whose floors don't nest (more wallets above a higher floor than a lower one) is left as a gap in every band rather than guessed.

  3. 3

The card shows the latest split as one bar, then each band's trend on its own scale (Trends) or the bands stacked to the total (Stacked). The snapshot keeps the latest whale count.

  4. 4

The holder ridges (3D) draw each band as a ridge over the window, shrimp at the back to whales in front, every band on one log scale from a power of ten at or below the window's smallest count: equal steps up are equal ratios, so a whale ridge and a shrimp ridge that climb alike grew by the same share.

How to read it

High
A large whale band means many wallets each hold $100k or more; a large shrimp band means ownership spread across small wallets.
Low
A band with few wallets moves in big percentages on small changes: three whales is a different story from three hundred.
Rising
A band gaining wallets, in dollars at that day's price. Whales up while shrimp fall is the shape the rotation rules look for.
Falling
A band losing wallets, either because they sold or because price moved them into the next band.

Evidence in the data, never advice

Common pitfalls

  • Bands are in dollars, so a price rise moves wallets up a band without any trading.
  • In the Trends view each band has its own scale; compare directions, not heights.
  • Whale counts are small numbers: a few wallets make a large percentage.
