What it is
Active holders is the number of wallets holding a meaningful amount of the token on a given day.
The base line is $5: anything smaller is dust and is not counted.
The same panel also counts wallets at four higher floors, $100, $1k, $10k and $100k, so the card can show whether the holder base is growing at every position size or only among the smallest wallets.
A centralized exchange's hot wallet holds tokens for thousands of customers, so counting it as one holder would be wrong: it is left out, as are other infrastructure wallets.
Wherever the site shows a holder count (tables, tiles, hubs, the Blockscreener), it is this one, labelled Holders ($5+).
What goes into it
- 1
Each stored day of the holders panel carries the count at every floor. The card draws the floor you pick ($5+ by default) as a daily line; a day with no trusted count is a gap, never zero.
- 2
Infrastructure wallets are left out before anything is counted.
- 3
The headline is the latest count and its change from the first to the last day that has a value, over the calendar days between them.
change % = (last − first) ÷ |first| × 100 - 4
The universe snapshot keeps the latest count and that same change for every token, which the fleet strip and the market cards rank. The fleet strip shows growth as a ratio, 1 + change ÷ 100, on a log scale.
How to read it
- High
- Many wallets hold the token above dust. On its own a big number says the ownership is wide, not that it is growing.
- Low
- Few wallets hold it. Percent changes on a small base move a lot on a handful of wallets.
- Rising
- More wallets hold at least the floor than at the start of the window. Compare floors: growth only at $5+ is new small wallets; growth at $10k+ is larger positions.
- Falling
- Fewer wallets hold at least the floor. At the higher floors a fall can also come from price: the floors are in dollars.
Evidence in the data, never advice
Common pitfalls
- The floors are USD values, so price moves wallets across them. A price drop takes wallets under $1k without anyone selling a token.
- Active means holding above $5 that day, not trading recently.
- It is not a block explorer's holder count. An explorer counts every address with any balance, dust and contracts included, so its figure is usually many times this one.
- On some tokens the count is still filling in (the card says so under its figure).
- Exchange customers are not in the count: tokens held on a centralized exchange sit in its hot wallets, which are excluded.
- A young token's window is shorter than 60 days; the change covers only the days that are stored.
