Realized cap (cost basis)
The total that current holders paid for the tokens they hold, in dollars: the holder base's aggregate cost basis.
What it's worth. What DEGEN's current holders' tokens are worth at each day's price: $15.6M on 24 Oct.

What it is
Market value prices every token at today's price.
Realized cap prices each holder's tokens at what that holder paid, then adds it up.
Blocktronics calls it cost basis: the total invested by current holders.
Because it is anchored to what people actually paid, realized cap moves more slowly than market value. It rises when tokens change hands at higher prices and falls when holders who paid more pass their tokens to holders paying less.
It includes tokens held on centralized exchanges.
What goes into it
- 1
Blocktronics computes it per day: the total USD invested by the token's current holders.
- 2
The cards draw it as the dashed cost line and divide holder value by it for MVRV. A day without a realized cap has no ratio and is a gap.
- 3
On a very small realized cap the ratio is dominated by dust and rounding, so the signal rules don't read MVRV for those days.
How to read it
- High
- Holders have put a lot of money in, at the prices they paid.
- Low
- Little has been paid in by current holders; ratios built on it become noisy.
- Rising
- Tokens are changing hands at prices above what the sellers paid, or new money is coming in.
- Falling
- Holders who paid more are leaving to holders paying less.
Evidence in the data, never advice
Common pitfalls
- It is not the market cap. Market cap prices supply at today's price; realized cap prices held supply at what holders paid.
- Sellers' realized PnL is a separate approximation, sound for trends, not accounting, so the two don't reconcile exactly.
- A very small realized cap makes MVRV swing on tiny amounts.
