What it is
Depth is the grade's liquidity pillar: how much it takes to move the price.
The headline figure is D1%, the dollars that move the price by 1%.
The detail line reads that depth against the market cap and against the depth typical at this size. A token without a depth reading has no depth score.
What goes into it
- 1
The backend scores the pillar from 0 to 100, against the fleet, and records a one-line reading beside the score. A pillar it couldn't measure has no score and a reason instead: it is dropped, never scored zero.
- 2
The grade card places the score on a 0–100 track against the fleet: the median score across every cached token (a tick) and the middle half, the 25th to 75th percentile (a band).
- 3
The read also carries the depth figure itself: the dollars that move the price 1%, and that amount in basis points of the market cap.
basis points of cap = 1% depth ÷ market cap × 10,000
How to read it
- High
- Deeper than typical for its size: larger positions can be entered or exited near the current price.
- Low
- Shallower than typical: a modest trade moves the price.
- Rising
- Depth improved at the last grading.
- Falling
- Depth thinned at the last grading.
Evidence in the data, never advice
Common pitfalls
- 50 is the fleet's typical token, not a pass mark: a 45 is a little below typical, not a fail.
- The detail line is the backend's evidence for the score; the card shows it in the data table and the hover.
- Scores are as of the last grading (the read holds no history of them).
- A token that barely trades can lack a depth reading and drop the pillar.
